Herbal Animals — adorable, and fragrant, companions
Zebra Zoo Zoo (Though I think I’m going to start naming her Zebra ZuZu) went missing for a few days this week. We looked everywhere. We thought she might be walking home from Grammie and Grandpa’s house.
In the meantime, there is the King of Everything’s upcoming Surgery. The golf balls and other offending bits are coming out on Wednesday. The nurse phoned today to remind me to bring a favorite cup and his favorite object.
Where is Zebra ZuZu?
ChatChat is still one-eyed, though he might make a guest appearance with a Pirate Patch for such an important event.
Any parent who has dealt with the trauma of a Lost Lovey knows what I’ve been going through these past few days. I’m lucky the Kid takes such disappearances in stride, though he’s not so casual about missing friends since the Dog got ChatChat. He gets nervous. He gets anxious. He starts muttering under his breath how he doesn’t like dogs. I decided we had to find Zebra ZuZu, or her twin, fast.
Unfortunately, the store didn’t carry her anymore. My hair started to stand up on end. It does that when I get stressed and start running my hands through it. There was a web address on the box of a similar product though, and lo and behold! Herbal Animals was found!
Zebra ZuZu is a relatively new design, the kind folk at Herbal Animals replied to my inquiry. She’s not on the site, yet, though I could have a Travelling Pillow in Zebra, I am assured. For the Boy, I was simply concerned with replacing a beloved, yet decidedly less aromatic, companion. The kind folk at this interesting little boutique are searching for a store in my area that might carry the little lavender pet.
In the meantime, I found Zebra ZuZu under my bed this evening. No doubt she got wind of her possible replacement and decided to high tail it home. If you are looking for a good lovey for an older child (the website recommends their products for children five and older), or if you need something to help you relax, I’d highly recommend these beautiful, whimsical, fragrant friends. Organic, produced by cottage industry, and filled with delightful smells, these small friends are sure to travel with you wherever you go. I often find my child wandering the house on his merry way, Zebra ZuZu perched across his shoulder.
And I’m wondering if an herbal animal might not be a good idea for this poor insomniac…

Those are so cute. I might just have to get one, the 15 yr old would love it!
Ben(3)had a favorite item, one of those littl blankets with a bear head on it, that he slept with since he was a little baby. It got misplaced and daycare one day and we never saw it again. Those were rough times, but it has since been replaced with “my blue blanket” :-) Whew, crisis averted!
